Sea Jellies Illuminated is a sea jellyfish exhibit and research laboratory operated through a partnership between Sea World Gold Coast and Griffith University. The design was developed using a dark colour palette to minimise light reflection and reduce potential disturbance to the jellyfish, which are highly sensitive to changes in light. This approach helps maintain a suitable environment for the animals while enhancing the contrast between the illuminated jellyfish and their surroundings, creating a visually engaging experience for visitors. The design balances the exhibit's educational, research, and conservation objectives with the practical needs of housing and displaying delicate marine life.
